PTC components support excessive current protection for the battery pack. The device will increase linearly with the temperature. When the current or temperature rises to a certain value, the resistance will suddenly change (grow) and cause the current to change. The mA level will return to normal after the temperature drops. It can be used as a battery connection piece to enter the battery pack in series.
PTC is often called an overcurrent protector in lithium-ion battery electronic circuits, and the cost is relatively high.
PTC, also known as overcurrent protector, is important for short circuit and overload protection of small-power electronic devices.
The NTC component can quickly sense that the current and temperature change in the circuit are too high or the current reaches the temperature, so that the temperature of the bimetal plate in the switch reaches the rated value of the switch, and the metal plate breaks off, which serves as the purpose of protecting batteries and electrical appliances. It is often seen in lithium-ion battery circuit protection applications.
The thermal switch NTC metal plate may not reset after jumping, causing the battery pack voltage to fail to work.
3. Fuse FUSE:
When the current in the circuit exceeds the rated value or the temperature quotient of the battery rises to a certain value, the FUSE fuse blows the circuit to disconnect it to protect the battery pack and electrical appliances from damage;
FUSE can sense the current and temperature of the circuit. The fuse cannot be restored after it is blown. It must be replaced in time, which is more troublesome. However, there are now self-recoverable FUSE fuses on the market.
At the condition that the ambient temperature is 20°C and the self-recombination fuse reaches thermal equilibrium, 100% of the current on the line flows through the self-recombination fuse. When the ambient temperature exceeds 20°C, the current through the self-repair fuse will be reduced. When the ambient temperature reaches 85°C, the current passing through is only half of the ambient temperature at 20°C. When the current flows through the device reaches more than twice the rated current, the self-repair fuse will operate.
